RECARO Automotive Seating partner vehicle wins its class at the ADAC Zurich 24h-Rennen

The RECARO Automotive Seating partner vehicle from team LMS Engineering, the Audi TTRS2, won its class SP3T at the probably most exciting ADAC Zurich 24h-Rennen for years. The vehicle with the number 89 also showed its potential in the overall ranking with achieving a great 24th place. And another number speaks for itself: About 45 percent of the 161 participants at this year’s race classic in the Eifel region trusted in racing shells of RECARO Automotive Seating – that’s a statement.

Ulrich Andree, driver of the winning vehicle Audi TTRS2, summarizes his happiness about the successful weekend: “That’s typical of the Nürburgring! After temperatures of almost 30 Degree Celsius and dry roads for about 23 hours, it started raining during the final minutes. We quickly responded to the new conditions and gave everything during the final race kilometers!”

About 200,000 fans cheered for the teams and the pilots during the motor sport highlight of the year – along with great weather conditions until shortly before the vehicles crossed the finish line. The rain may have cooled down the asphalt, but certainly not the mood around the Nürburgring!

Besides the Audi TTRS2, the RECARO Automotive Seating partner team LMS Engineering also launched an Audi RS3 in the TCR class. Unfortunately, the vehicle with the number 173 had an accident on Sunday morning and couldn’t continue the race.

RECARO Automotive Seating supports Truck Racing Team S.L. Trucksport 30 at this year’s FIA European Truck Racing Championship. Equipped with two racing shells RECARO Pro Racer SPG, Sascha Lenz’ racing truck will be participating in nine races in total all around Europe. Weighing five and a half tons and with astonishing 1,000 HP, the giant can achieve acceleration values easily able to keep up with professional touring cars.

“We are pleased to support Sascha Lenz and his team, a team that is both highly professional and extremely passionate about what they do,” says Dr. David Herberg, Executive Director of RECARO Commercial Vehicle Seating. “Our racing shells have proven themselves time and time again under extreme truck racing conditions. Besides the racing shells in the racing truck, top products of RECARO Automotive seating are also installed in the team truck of S.L. Trucksport 30. Two premium commercial vehicle seats of the type RECARO C 7000 are ensuring optimum comfort for the crew during the long trips to the circuits and back home.

Already during the opening weekend of the season of May 13-14 in Spielberg, Austria, the team from the Eifel region was showing their potential. Lenz took fifth place in the overall rankings and second place in the team rankings. Winner of the Championship will be determined in Spain at the weekend of 7-8 October. Sascha Lenz, who was voted Young Driver of the Year in 2016, is already looking forward to the next race weekend in Misano, Italy, May 27-28. “We are perfectly prepared and will put all we have into getting a spot on the podium!”

RECARO Automotive Seating is preparing its market launch in China as the premium brand manufacturer of performance seats: At Auto Shanghai 2017 from April 21 to 28, the company is presenting tailor-made products for Chinese carmakers and for the growing demand for sports-oriented automotive equipment. As part of the Adient presentation in Hall 5.2, Booth 5BA001, the focus is on a specifically developed China Edition of the RECARO top seller Sportster CS. Chinese OEM customers RECARO aims to approach with three sample seats for sporty luxury vehicles.

“The RECARO brand name is founded on 111 successful years in the car seating business,” said Markus Kussmaul, executive director of the Adient specialty seating group and responsible for the worldwide business of Recaro Performance Car Seating. “We’re now taking advantage of Auto Shanghai to introduce our world-renowned automotive brand to a wider audience in China.”

Therefore RECARO Automotive Seating is utilizing its best brand ambassador: a RECARO racing shell and the chance to ‘Feel Performance,’ as RECARO calls it. For RECARO visitors this means the incomparable experience of driving around a virtual race track while seated in an authentic RECARO racing shell in the racing simulator.

Readers of the renowned German industry publications “auto motor und sport,” “Motorsport aktuell” and “Auto Bild” chose their number one – four times. The results of the readers’ choice polls are a huge success for RECARO Automotive Seating. This impressively continues the performance seat expert’s string of victories in the last few years.

A total of approximately 124,000 people participated in the 2017 “auto motor und sport” best brand readers’ choice poll, in which they chose their favorite brand. The figures speak for themselves: In the sport seats category, more than 89.7 percent of the votes went to the RECARO brand, a full 72.3 percent points ahead of the second-place finisher.

The readers of “Motorsport aktuell” made their choice also very clear. About 3,000 participants voted. In the selection of the best “racing seat/shell” RECARO was able to attract 70.2 percent of the vote, a 36.3 point lead over its closest competitor. To wrap up the package RECARO was also many lengths ahead of its competitors in the opinion of “Auto Bild” readers. The victory in this readers’ choice poll, in which about 60,000 readers participated, rounded out the series of wins. With 87 percent of the votes, RECARO Automotive Seating took the top spot on the winners’ podium in the sport seats category.

To Markus Kussmaul, Executive Director of the Adient specialty seating group and the person responsible for the worldwide business of RECARO Performance Car Seating, the results are both motivation and affirmation: “This success confirms our strategy of never resting on our laurels, but rather continuing to search, day after day, for even better solutions for our customers.”

RECARO at the NAIAS 2017: STRONG INTEREST FROM MANUFACTURERS AND MEDIA

Very positive feedback for RECARO Automotive Seating at the North American International Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, which ended on Sunday, January 22, 2017: “The extraordinary interest in our brand and our products exceeded our expectations in every respect,” declared Markus Kussmaul, Executive Director of the Adient specialty seating group and the person responsible for the worldwide business of RECARO Performance Car Seating. “Vehicle manufacturers gave us very positive feedback, both in regard to the concept seats that we exhibited as well as in regard to our expanded positioning in the performance seating segment. In particular, our approach of establishing RECARO as a premium brand in the sporty SUV and pickup truck segment was extremely well received – with perfect support from our SUV concept seat, which was assessed as very attractive.”

A main topic in discussions with OEM customers, as well as in numerous interviews and background talks with media representatives, was the future orientation of the RECARO brand within Adient. “In this regard, we have noticed clear and positive expectations as far as RECARO and future innovation projects are concerned. And: The value of the RECARO brand was confirmed by all customers,” Kussmaul said. “In this context, the opportunities for cooperation within the Adient global innovation network are seen as a huge opportunity and a unique selling point for RECARO.”

The strong interest in RECARO was also reflected in visitor numbers. On the first two days of the show, which were open only to trade visitors, almost 600 registered guests visited the Adient and RECARO Automotive Seating stand to get information about current and future seating products. Many visits were concluded with the setting of appointments to discuss possible joint projects. During the show’s two media days, representatives of 44 US media organizations and 20 from Europe and China visited RECARO, including journalists from the Wall Street Journal, Automotive News, n-tv, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Automobilwoche as well as Automobil Produktion.

72 RECARO products invited visitors to take a seat and to experience the RECARO brand: “At the 2017 Tokyo Auto Salon, we built a RECARO theatre – with 72 seats, from motorsport to comfort segment, where people are invited to come in, sit down, enjoy the products and watch our short video on the big screen,” says Mitsuhiro Maeguchi, Marketing Manager at RECARO Automotive Seating in Japan. “The film promoted the reason why people choose RECARO as the best brand in automotive seating. The same applies for our new brochures, where 16 professional race drivers answered the question about what makes RECARO seats so special and distinguishes us from others. The combination of our super sporty design, pioneering materials and German craftsmanship is highly appreciated not only by end consumers but by our OEM customers in Japan as well. And with our premium stand design and concept we pointed out how important the Asian market is for us.”

At the 2017 Tokyo Auto Salon, January 13-15, RECARO Automotive Seating showcased its new limited edition seat in attractive green for both the RECARO Sportster and the RECARO Sportster LL100H SE. The 2017 color green is the follow-up to 2016’s limited edition color yellow and 2015’s limited edition color orange – both very successful in sales. Also on display: the new trim cover design of the RECARO sport seat SR-7 CLASSIC and a new flat-type seat cushion for RECARO LX-F and RECARO SR-7F. Both products will be launched in April 2017.

RECARO WINS MAJOR AWARD WITH MAN

RECARO Automotive Seating expands its market share in commercial vehicle seating: The company is pleased to announce a new significant contract with MAN Truck & Bus AG.

Starting in 2020, RECARO Automotive Seating will incrementally begin supplying high quality commercial vehicle seats for the entire range of MAN models TGL, TGM, TGS and TGX. The driver and passenger seat order will be for approximately 100,000 original MAN vehicles annually. The contract will result in a production increase of annual production there to 300,000 seats. The Polish facility will supply the MAN facilities in Munich and Steyr.

“We are exceedingly pleased by the trust that MAN Truck & Bus has put in us by placing this order,” said Dr. David Herberg, Executive Director Commercial Vehicle Seating. “This milestone in the OEM business reaffirms our position in the European commercial vehicle market: We are a sought-after reliable partner for truck manufacturers – at the same time we are bringing our ambitious growth strategy to fruition.”

RECORD ANNIVERSARY: RECARO WINS ITS TENTH “SPORT AUTO AWARD”

RECARO Automotive Seating continues its triumphant success as most favored brand and defended its title unchallenged as the best seat manufacturer at the “Sport Auto Award 2016.” Thus, the “Sport Auto” readers have voted for RECARO as the best brand the tenth consecutive year. And with a remarkable majority at that: 91.4 percent of a total of 16,953 votes cast favored RECARO Automotive Seating – the strongest result of the 19 assessed categories in the reader poll and for RECARO an increase in approval of almost 10 percent as compared to the poll five years ago. The runner-up seat manufacturer placed far behind with 33.6 percent of votes.

“This overwhelming vote of the demanding ‘Sport Auto’ readers makes us very proud,” says Markus Kussmaul, vice president sales and marketing at RECARO Automotive Seating. “It shows us that our brand promises of performance, craftsmanship, and design are well received by the consumer. The ‘Best Brand’ poll 2016 is thus in many ways a benchmark for us – and an incentive to make sporty seating even better!”

For RECARO, the ten year record anniversary at the “Sport Auto Award” caps a very successful 2016, in which the brand was awarded nine prestigious industry awards for its premium products in automotive seating as well as race car and commercial vehicle seating. The German “Sport Auto” readers’ poll is one of the most important brand barometers for the industry – with increasing importance: In its 24th edition, around 3,300 more car fans cast their votes than in the previous year.
